In coherence with the Advanced Business Creation (ABC) syllabus, together with my group I participated in an assignment where the Scenario planning division from Shell had asked for our insights into the future of carbon free cities.

As a group we proposed the idea that due to the fact that Africa has lots of sun hours and a relatively eager to work population along with enough unpopulated land, they could become a key player in the generation of sustainable Energy. What we refer to now as; the west, would provide the expertise and experience to facilitate the build-up of the solar farms. Shell could benefit from this as they have many oil fields in Africa which would then eventually start to run dry. They could in that case offer to keep infrastructure and the resource exploitation contracts in place, which would enable them to retain their position in the energy market but then in a sustainable manner.
