ED COM
Adventure
competition
With my group we participated in the Ad Venture competition, hosted by Edcom. Our concept was chosen to represent the school in this European competition. Out of nearly 100 participating groups we got 26th place meaning we didn’t get to present our concept in Brussels but the judges were still excited about our concept:
"The creative idea is simple. But very sophisticated. It is engaging and very well thought out. This team has a good understanding of their audience. This is a very impressive project."
The goal of the competition was to develop a campaign which would highlight the importance of advertising with regards to the preservation of a free internet. Since in the absence of advertisements there are no substitute revenue streams and websites would eventually have to start selling their services rendering the internet only available for the prosperous. So we came up with the idea to present people with a receipt showing the approximate costs of the services they were using every day in a situation where advertisements no longer played a role and people had to provide the revenue themselves.
